The miniature represents a full-length man wearing an uniform with one hand on his sword and the other one on the helmet plume which is collocated on the near rock. The inscription on the back allows to know his identity and also the date of the creation of the work: this is the Comte Etienne de Durfort and the miniature was realized in 1888. The inscription shows as following: "Je laisse à mon neveu le Comte Hector de Béarn le portrait de son gran père le Comte Etienne de Durfort en uniforme de Dragons qui est dans ma chambre. Je désire que le Souvenir rappelle à mon cher Hector l'affection très... ...que j'avais pour lui. Cte G. de... ...". The portrait is outdoor and they are visible some bushes and a mano trying to tame an agitated horse. The artist is still unknown.
