With the inauguration of the Tua Line on September 29 of 1887, Bragança was still far from the national railway network, accentuating its peripheral position. The most influential people from the city sought to convince the Government to build or finance the construction of the extension of the Tua line.
Abílio Beça (1856-1910) was the great driving force and political responsible for the construction of the railway from Mirandela to Bragança. He had to face many difficulties, resulting from the crisis that the country was going through, but the train eventually arrived in Bragança on December 1, 1906.
