Portuguese World Exhibition: panoramic view

View of Império Square, during the exhibition of the portuguese world in 1940. It was the major cultural and political event of Estado Novo regime. It commemorated the double centenary of the foundation and restoration of nationality. The Jerónimos Monastery can be seen in front and the pavilion of portuguese in the world on the left. In the background Belém and Restelo that weren’t urbanized yet.
