The mission of Lisboa Municipal Archive is to collect, protect, preserve and disseminate documentation related to the memory of Lisboa, as well as to promote the integrated management of information produced by the city council.

It includes the Historical Archive, Central Archive, Photographic Archive and Video Library, and gathers graphic, textual, cartographic, architectural, photographic and videographic documentation of great importance to the study and history of Lisboa and Portugal.

It is one of the oldest and largest archives in Portugal and holds a vast collection of documents from institutions and individuals, from the 13th century to the present day.
