Protocol and record of José de la Torre on the document mentioning Cervantes as a tax collector for the Invincible Armada in Castro del Río

Born in Cordoba in 1876, José de la Torre y del Cerro dedicated his entire life to research, as a professional archivist and librarian. He was an official chronicler of the Province of Cordoba for many years and delved deep into the Cordoban roots of Miguel de Cervantes. In 1915, he was appointed corresponding member of the Real Academia de Ciencias, Buenas Letras y Nobles Artes, remaining a very active member and was received as a full member in 1922. At this solemn act, the opening speech addressed the author of El Quijote. Its title: “The family of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Genealogical and biographical notes based on Cordoban documents.”
