Located at mid-slope, on regular land in comparison to other settlements in the region, Provesende has developed a rather orderly urban design. Its centre is defined by four features framing the space, the Church of St. John the Baptist, the Casa da Praça, the Pillory and the Fountain.
The urban character of the old town is further emphasised by the Solar dos Beleza and houses on the road that crosses the village from east to west. Some examples of these buildings are of an urban typology of mixed architectural features and a typified, repetitive design, the architectural language proper of an urban home, adopting similar models to those of cities such as Vila Real.
