The Quinta da Marka, located on privileged ground on the north bank of the Douro, an area that has become more densely populated with new estates, cohabit with old manor houses and anonymous constructions. The edifices built recently are part of a strategy to continue and revive traditional practices in the region. Together with the maintenance of artisanal means of production, they bear witness to the values that persist. It is the ground floor, where wine is usually produced, that the more exuberant features of a contemporary language can be found, in its desire to open out onto the landscape. Together with the spirit of time, modern forms combine with artisanal building techniques and local materials.
