Rainy Scenery in Japan

Ishikawa discussed techniques for creating foggy or rainy scenes: "Whether fog or rain, if only gray is used, it too easily results in cool tones. When using gray, it is crucial to decrease cool tones and incorporate warmer ones. Only a little warm-toned light is needed to depict rainy weather naturally. Whether to use cool grays or warm grays depends on the situation; however, if only warm tones are used, that creates an unnatural feeling." Ishikawa has a high degree of observation and grasp of the use of watercolor characteristics to express natural color, and has a deep experience and comparison of the scenery between Taiwan and Japan. He practiced his theory on the cool and warm color tone in this work, which makes the faint light reveals a warm and beautiful atmosphere, although the rain reduced the presentation of the scene chroma.
