This document records the details of a special bequeathal by Bak Munnip to his first son Bak Sun’s wife, Lady Yi. In his advanced age, Bak Munnip was deeply relieved to have a daughter-in-law due to the fact he could entrust her with the family ancestral service responsibilities, so he specially bequeathed one of his female slaves, Bonghak, who he himself had been bequeathed, and her son Eungbok, along with three other female slaves, Bohyang, Hamhyang, and Aedeok, and their offspring to his daughter-in-law for her permanent future use. The document is signed by Bak Munnip as the property owner, Munnip’s uncle and Confucian scholar Bak Seon as a witness, and first cousin once removed and Confucian scholar Bak Ho as the witness and author.
