Red and blue Shan (robe)

Red and blue shan (robes) and square head scarves are worn by Xiao Sheng (young male) or Shu Sheng (young scholars). They are generally in red, blue, purple, or white colors. This piece is called “plain red and blue shan.” It means that its wearer is still studying hard and has yet to pass the imperial examinations.
