As part of the commemoration of the 200 years of the National Library of Peru (BNP), in March 2021 the remodeled "Carmen Checa de Silva" Public Library Station was reopened, located in the district of La Victoria. The works contemplated the improvement of the library infrastructure, the implementation of a renewed and extensive collection of books, and the improvement of the environment for cultural and educational activities.
The Station is named after Carmen Checa (1923-2011), a member of the third class of the School of Librarians of Peru. Checa worked to promote public libraries, ensuring the implementation of library infrastructures, the training of personnel, and the processing of reading materials. In addition, he published library texts, and obtained various decorations for his meritorious work.
