National Museums of Kenya
Nairobi, Kenya

This rope made by women from "Makonge"(Sisal) fibre is used by both men or women for tethering animals and for making a running noose to trap things. Young girls make the smaller goat ropes. The narrow end of the rope goes through the coil at the other end.
