Patrick Henry's Red Hill
Brookneal, Virginia, United States

Photograph taken at Roundabout plantation in Louisa County, Virginia, where Patrick Henry lived from 1765 to 1771. Roundabout consisted of 1,700 acres near the Old Mountain Road, which in the 18th century was a main thoroughfare for those traveling to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Henry and his family moved to Scotch Town plantation in 1771, but he did not sell Roundabout until July 1773 when Lewis Walden purchased it for £300.
