Jean Eugène Atget is one of the great masters in the history of photography, due to the documentary record his work constitutes. In this case, we see the shop windows with mannequins in them which can be glimpsed through the reflections, the straightforward street scene in which advertisements of every kind can be seen, and the blurred figures and characters present in the Rue de Nonnains d’Hyères who disappear amongst the signs of a shop selling wines and spirits - all this results from Atget’s excellent technique, and a fine artistic outcome is achieved.
