The Vicentine painter Bartolomeo Montagna is the author of a large panel with Saint Blaise and a bishop saint, originally part of a monumental polyptych for the high altar of Santi Nazaro e Celso. Four other fragments of the altar are preserved in the church: a Pietà and figures of saints. Against a dark background behind a parted curtain, the two saints are truly vivid portraits that combine the volumetric and psychological solidity of Antonello da Messina with a mood of melancholy reminiscent of Lorenzo Lotto.
