Kato Yoshiaki, daimyō (feudal lord subordinated only to the shogun) from the end of the Sengoku period, is seen holding a spear as Sama-no-suke Yasukira, from the Fujiwara clan, on the series “Heroic Histories from Taiheiki”. A classic by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, one of the great ukiyo-e masters, a traditional Japanese xylograph developed between the 17th and the 19th centuries.
