In September 2021, San Antonio participated in the virtual II International Gastronomic Festival of Arequipa (FIGA 2021), hosted by Arequipa, Perú - a fellow UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg provided video remarks and San Antonio Chef Ambassador Jesse "Chef Kirk" Kuykendall prepared a traditional dish representing the city.
