In 1937, Tadeusz Kulisiewicz embarked on an eight-month artistic journey through Western Europe, during which he visited dozens of cities. The presented veduta depicts a view of the Italian town of San Gimignano. This Tuscan town is famous for its distinctive medieval square towers, which, in Kulisiewicz's drawing, majestically rise above the lush tree canopies. The representation is monochromatic, composed of small strokes, rounded in the vegetation and sky areas, and straight in the architectural part. The countless tiny lines give the drawing a painterly quality.
