The Basilica San Giorgio Maggiore was built between 1565-1810 in Venice (IT). If you look from St. Mark's Square towards the sea, you can't miss the bright white entrance facade of the church. Architect Andrea Palladio had the challenging task of designing a classical temple façade for a Christian church with a high central nave and two low side aisles. He accomplished this task by the exciting superimposition of two facades: one with a broad pediment and architrave extending across the nave and the two aisles, seemingly supported by a single order of pilasters, and the other with a narrower pediment overlaid by a huge order of half-columns on high bases.
