Until the Satta Pass was opened, people had to pass through the crashing waves under the cliff, and the place was so dangerous it was called “Oyashirazu Koshirazu” (“everyone for himself”). With wobbly knees, travelers gaze out upon Mt. Fuji from the sheer precipice. Today, on the site of the station, the official lodging house has been restored to the way it used to look.
