In the Diary of C Raja Raja Varma, there is a mention that Raja Ravi Varma visited the caves of Elephanta caves and sketched the Trimurti. The Trimurthy literally means the three faces- signifying the amalgam of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara. It is possible that this is the very sketch mentioned in the Diary with an emphasis of Maheshwara. The other sculpture may also be from the Elephanta caves.
