Seated Nude

A naked woman sits on a chair, her back to the viewer. Her face is turned to the left, shown in a half-profile, and her hair is styled. The figure of the woman occupies the entire height of the composition – the upper part of her buttocks, back with a subtly outlined spine, neck, and head. Her legs are crossed, one over the other, extending beyond the frame. Her left forearm rests casually on her thigh, with the outline of her breast faintly visible, while her right arm disappears behind the chair’s backrest. Kulisiewicz created this drawing with an economical line, extracting only the contours from the neutral background. He was a master of concise drawing, able to create a sensual portrait with just a few lines.
