Sevilla, Spain

A triangular shawl with the base filled with plant decoration consisting of different flowers in various sizes, leaves and roundels symmetrically laid out. Their central axis consists of a Medici-style vase with a large bouquet, the most prominent of which are the bleeding heart. A curved strip consisting of small flowers, roundels and wedge shapes break the decorative pattern horizontally. The outside edges are slightly undulated and finished with knots. The decorated sections are produced with an outline stitch and worked with fine thread stitching, adornments with rose stitching and the background with hexagonal meshes with tull stitching. This mix of flowers and complex compositions were typical of the Second Empire.
