A Tibetan robe (chuba) for a man made from patchwork Chinese tapestry (kesi) fragments. There are qilin along the hem and cuffs of the robe, as well as phoenixes along the lower torso and mid-sleeve. The upper torso is adorned with an ancient style of dragon called kuilong, which is a snake-like creature depicted in either a geometric or curvilinear style. In the background there are clouds, waves, rocks, peonies, and mountains. Brown fur trims the cuffs, front flap, and hem of the robe. These tapestry fragments in the robe were imported from China and can be dated to the 17th century or earlier.
