This spice service comes from Augsburg, a famous goldsmith. It is made of silver. It is 40 cm tall and weighs over 1 kg. This rococo set consists of decanters for vinegar and olive oil, containers for salt and loose spices, and special packages for lemons, also the meals were seasoned. The exhibit is typical of the rich palaces of the Baroque era, where it played the leading role in the table decoration.
Fashion developed for such extensive spice services in the 18th century. On the other hand, in the nineteenth century, the once impressive sets shrunk to a "modest" set of carafes for oil and vinegar, salt shakers and mustard dishes, becoming an indispensable element of a properly equipped table even for a middle-class family.
