Skyscrapers are the symbols of economy, technology, and thriving city growth. In the Eastern District of Taipei City, skyscrapers are common to the city residents, yet people wonder if there are other possibilities for different city looks? Can those skyscrapers bring the city something warm and emotionally stimulating rather than just being cold and colorless symbols of a thriving economy? The glass wall of Funbon Banking Center has become one of the landmarks of the Very Fun Park in recent years. This immense structure standing on Renai Road reflects the blue skies on its glass walls and dazzles the city with a pastel hue of glittering blue. It is one of the most eye-catching structures along Renai Road. Since 2007, the Very Fun Park has been dressing it in art every summer, and which has been delivering the message of the pleasant and proactive life attitudes of city residents. In 2009, Artist Hung Yi uses the image of a “cat” to express the anticipation for the future (2010 will be the “tiger” year, and cat means “small tiger” in Chinese). Through smiles, the cat reminds people that the warmth and courage in life comes from smiles of you and me. Under the blue skies, white clouds, and cheerful smiles, we look forward to a bright future.
