Soldier and woman shown in profile and one behind the other. The man presides and carries a shotgun, his suit is made up of blue pants, a white shirt and a suitcase on his back. He also wears a long red hat and a brown sash around his waist. The woman wears a greenish blue skirt, a long-sleeved white shirt, and a red blanket covering her back. He holds a lump in his left hand that is gray in color. She is shown leaning forward and wearing a short hat. Both wear the same type of shoes tied to the ankle by a ribbon.
This image shows the complementary work of the family in war situations, who provided emotional and caring support. Likewise, the rabonas oversaw cleaning and health care. They were credited with a fairly tough character. Inscription: "Peruanischer Infanterist und seine Rabona auf dem marsche begriffen".
It belongs to the album "1871 Praetoria" which contains 39 sheets of which 25 are watercolors and the remaining 14 illuminated lithographs. These images are an example of the nineteenth-century production of pictorial costumbrismo in Peru, a repertoire of typical characters -in this case from the city of Lima-, composed without much context, and rather characterized by their work and clothing.
