Souvenir de boda [Wedding souvenir]

My work is based on dissimilar situations, on a certain atmosphere of tension or estrangement that materializes in a feeling of distance towards the represented image. I am interested in thinking about the capacities of appropriation of an icon, and for that purpose, I manipulate family photos and souvenirs from the Buenos Aires conurbation. I work on references to catholic culture, the popular liturgy and its festive aspect. Moreover, I am interested in the word-image correspondence, in an attempt to approach preconceived ideas and problematize them, such as the imagery of hell as a place of martyrdom, the celebrations as a compulsory enjoyment event, or the devotion to romantic icons of popular culture.
