A Spanish 20th century (circa 1925) Talavera charger in blue and white depicts a hare in a landscape. The jack rabbit or hare motive on Spanish Talavera chargers is an uncommon theme for decoration. The South African artist Christo Coetzee (1929-2000), lived and worked in Spain from 1965 and accumulated a remarkable collection of Spanish ceramics which were eventually bequeathed to the University of Pretoria.
