This object is a bronze spearhead. Finds of bronze objects are rare in the Netherlands. That is because bronze was expensive and objects were frequently melted down or presented as offerings, often in wet areas such as peat bogs, ponds and rivers. The wooden lance would be inserted into the hollow underside of a spearhead. Sometimes there would be a small hole in the shaft, enabling the lance to be fixed with a nail.
