Sporting Clube Caminhense was founded on December 14, 1926. It became branch No. 49 of Sporting Clube de Portugal in 1929, until 1952.
In the early days, Caminhense devoted himself to football and tennis. Remo emerged in the 1930s and it was in this mode that the club obtained its highest national and international hits in the following decades. In 1939, the Caminhense team was a national champion in Shell of 4 on the Lima river track, winning the “Lisboa Cup”, a cup instituted in 1903. Rowers of the Caminhense participated in the 1948, 1960 Olympic Games, and still in 1992 and 1996.
