The Sri Lankan team arrived 27 December 1984 on their first visit to Perth and played Western Australia in a match 1-3 January 1985 with Duleep Mendis (67) and Vinodhan John (5-28) instrumental in their 7 wicket victory. Sri Lanka then played in a WSC one-day triangular series against the West Indies and hosts Australia. Sri Lanka played Match 14 against the West Indies in Perth in front of a crowd of 10,905 on 2 February 1985 and Match 15 against Australia in Perth in front of 20,597 people on 3 February 1985.
