At the end of the 19th century the number of Polish emigrants in Chicago increased so much that they began to settle to the north-west of the oldest district, the so-called Polish triangle. In November 1984 the Roman Catholic parish of St. Hyacinth (dedicated to St. Jacek) was established.
The cornerstone was laid on April 30, 1917, and the church was dedicated in 1921. The building was designed by Henry W. Worthmann and John G. Steinbach. The church is build in a style combining elements of Classical and Gothic architecture, features a unique three-tower facade, rarely met in the architecture of Europe. It determines the easily recognizable shape of the building, which towers
over the Northwest Side area.
