A bronze sculpture titled Steenbok (Capricorn) by the South African artist Arend Eloff. The work is displayed in the middle of a fountain at the entrance of the Admin Building of the University of Pretoria. Steenbok was a gift by the personnel of the University of Pretoria to commemorate Prof Danie Joubert, the principal of the university from 1984 until 1991. The work Steenbok is in some sources referred to as a Duiker (Including the name plate created in 1991). Short biography: Arend Eloff was born in 1964 into an inspirational artist family where his own talents and interests for drawing, painting and sculpture was evident from an early age. His work is influenced by the essence and value of our natural world and the relationship of man to beast. Eloff's work is evolving into the symbolism and messages that nature has for mankind as an evolving spirit and he constantly looks toward nature for guidance, messages and teachings on universal balance. His work is exhibited on an international scale an is widely acquired by art collectors, corporations and structural developments.
