Stop all is a work by South African artist Guy du Toit. Du Toit created Stop all as a final year Fine arts student at the University of Pretoria in 1985. The block of sandstone came from the Union Buildings in Pretoria, where it was removed as part of a restoration project. Du Toit carved into the sandstone block to create a wall that resembles a shield or a barrier which was largely influenced by the Old Merensky Building located on the University of Pretoria's main campus, which was then the Fine Arts department. The Old Merensky is currently house to the University's sculpture collection. Stop All is currently placed at the Department of Visual Arts. Short biography: Guy du Toit was born in Rustenburg in 1958 and studied Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria. Du Toit has exhibited extensively, both locally and internationally. His work is in private and public collections. He is often a guest lecturer in Fine Arts at the University of Pretoria and other institutions.
