Yellow chairs, arranged in 7 rows of 7, were positioned on a plaza in Times Square where visitors were invited to sit and view the spectacle of the neighborhood. The precise spacing of the chairs as they were arranged each morning mimicked theater seating with Times Square as the stage. The rearrangement of the chairs throughout the course of the day became a performance about how people shape public space to suit their needs. With their taxicab yellow paint, the chairs re-manifested taxis back onto this Broadway pedestrian plaza.
