London Museum

London Museum
London, United Kingdom

This suffrage banner was designed by Mary Lowndes. It commemorates Boudica (here spelt 'Boadicea'), the British warrior queen lauded by the suffrage movement as an example of the 'eternal feminine', determined and empowered by her cause. The banner was designed by Lowndes as part of her 'Famous Women' series of banners. It was made originally to be carried in the NUWSS procession of 13th June 1908.
