Telephone

The ‘T’ stands for table-top device, with the number 65 referring to its year of introduction. Over the course of its production run, about 9 to 10 million of these phones were produced.For years, it was the standard phone issued by PTT, the Netherlands’ state-owned telephone company, to customers who subscribed to their phone service. This rental device made its debut in 1965 and was developed by PTT together with Krone, a German company. The device was manufactured by several companies, including Heemaf, Ericsson, Standard Electric and Krone. In 1974, a new model featuring push buttons was introduced: the T65-TDK, with the letters TDK standing for toondrukkiezen (push-button dial).
