This depicts the crossing of the Abe River. Although it was approximately 500 meters wide and had a large volume of water, there was no bridge to cross it. In the foreground, porters carry people on their shoulders or in a palanquin. From the opposite shore a packhorse with a heavy load of cargo is being led by the reins. We can also see a courier
holding up a package to keep it from getting wet.
