Leon Idzikowski (1827–1865) - the founder of the largest bookstore, reading room and publishing company in Kyiv. He printed, among others first editions of works by the outstanding Ukrainian composer Mykola Łysenka and Polish poets. By 1920, the publishing house had published about 8,000 titles. The Warsaw branch survived until 1944.
