The picture is part of the last series of the artist’s works entitled “Ceremonie”[Ceremonies], created a year before his premature death, and fully reflects his style. The painting is suffused with poetic melancholy and strange sadness, tinged with horror or unspecified fear. The pessimistic visions of Wojtkiewicz were above all the fruit of his imagination, but were also inspired by the literary work of European Modernists. The uniqueness of his art was appreciated internationally (for example in Paris and Berlin).
