Do you still remember? During 2008 Very Fun Park, artist You Wen-Fu’s “Ubiquitous” masterpiece was an interactive and responsive piece of work inspired by a series of surreal incidents. That story did not end just there, in 2009; You Wen Fu once again enters the Evangelical Covenant Church of Taipei to continue his creation concept. In the same venue but a different location, he invites the public again to enter his artistic world. This time, visitors will communicate, converse and dispel doubts in the consultation room and meet one another.
You Wen-Fu’s 2009 exhibit is an extension of the artist’s personal aesthetic perception, or should we say his “relationship with God”, with the church. Installing an inflatable humanoid with sound and light in the dark room, the artist wants to express a type of “as if wants to see (or decrypt) own circumstances”. When creating this work, You Wen Fu was traveling in Europe, stayed in Paris and was full of admiration for the European church statutes. In his heart, he remembered Rodin’s words, “The conscious thought, symbolism, ubiquitous, body language, facial expression, will all reveal the status of his soul” To echo Rodin, You Wen-Fu said,
