In 2008, the Haruo Ohara's family donated the photographer’s entire collection to the Instituto Moreira Salles, where it has been treated and preserved at the Photography Archive in Rio de Janeiro. In the same year, the IMS launched a traveling exhibit of black-and-white photographs taken by Ohara between 1940 and 1970. The collection comprises nearly 8,000 black-and-white negatives, 10,000 color negatives, dozens of albums and hundreds of period photographs, as well as photographic equipment, personal papers, objects, diaries, and books. The archive allows for a greater understanding and study of the work and times of Haruo Ohara, an immigrant and small farmer in Londrina who is now considered one of the most expressive photographers in Brazil.
