The Entry of Jerzy Ossoliński into Rome in 1633

This work by the famous Venetian painter of urban landscapes, was commissioned by Józef Ossoliński. The deputation of Jerzy Ossoliński, who is shown in the centre of the foreground, was sent by the Polish king Władysław IV Vasa. The painting shows the artist’s vision of the triumphant historic entry of Ossoliński to Rome in 1633 as the Emissary to the court of Pope Urban VIII.
