Wrecked by its fatigues more than the years, with his limbs now inevitably bended by the position in which he’s forced by his job, this fisherman captures his prey and fishes it out of the water with bare hands, his only instruments of work. His wide brimmed hat protects him from the bad weather and it’s the same one that Crocetti puts on the head of many of his characters, subjects that he brings out from the commonalty to transform them in symbols made out of bronze.
The roughness of the surface is an integrant part of Crocetti’s formal research: it shows the crude realism of an anonym life which monumental dignity is guarded behind the tension of a gesture.
