The polyptych was commissioned by the abbess of the convent, Lucia Fracanzani, and is dated 1428. It is very close in style to Giovanni Badile, to whom it has been attributed, and presents the rather singular subject of the pregnant Virgin flanked by the knights who were protector saints of the convent, Martin and George. Saint Michael and the Annunciation are represented in small additional panels.
