This church is the oldest not only in our town, but one of the oldest monuments in Sardinia.
It is located in the most populous district of Serra Perdosa where is also our school. It is hidden between large buildings and it’s little known to the inhabitants themselves. The students of the school for the last three years have been tour guides during the regional event "Open monuments". The church has been deconsecrated since the late nineteenth century. Even after restauration of 2006 that allowed public use, the Church stay closed for most of the year and only recently a network of associations, thanks to a municipal announcement, has taken over the management in order to realize the project: “the biodiversity gardens”.The students who, for this second year of adoption, will be tour guides of the site for Open Monuments, identify the Church as the most important cultural asset of their neighborhood: sense of identity, valorization and knowledge will be the key to prevent decay. As indicated by the Regulation and Method of the Project, our adoption fits into a formative perspective of civic sense and social responsibility and represents a privileged tool for the acquisition of our cultural identity through the knowledge of cultural heritage and its concrete enhancement and revitalization from below.
The aim of this video is to create an emotional experience that leads pupils to meet with their environment and its inhabitants of yesterday and today.
