Woodcut printing with black ink. The picture depicts the moment when the women of Kalavryta went up to the hill of execution and found their relatives murdered by the German soldiers. The artwork shows clear references to the Descent from the Cross and the Epitaph lament, as depicted in Renaissance works as well as Byzantine paintings of religious content. In the foreground you can see a dressed woman holding a dead man in her arms, who does not wear clothing on the upper torso and whose head and upper body is held up by the woman. This scene is reproduced several times in the second level of the project. In the centre are two women dressed in black garment and a black headscarf. Their posture and faces suggest feelings of anguish and heartache. One figure to the right of the centre is holding her hands on the sides of her head, while the second figure is holding her arms and hands towards the sky. In the background, buildings going up in flames and a hill are depicted. On the left-hand side you can see a tree bearing four signs. One shows an arrow pointing right and the other three are marked: "h3 ", "Kalavryta ", "7/2 ". In the lower left there is an inverted signature of the creator: "σ.β".
