Having crossed over the Satta Pass, travelers run into the Okitsu River. The river is wide but shallow. In the winter, a temporary bridge crosses it, but at the other times of year it is traversed by foot. Once  cross the river, it’s only two kilometers to Okitsu station. In the illustration, large sumo wrestlers are riding in palanquins and on horses, and are just crossing the river. The porters carrying the palanquins and the horses all have strained expressions on their faces.
