The representation of the scenes takes place on a support in the shape of a Latin cross, clearly referring to the instrument of torture through which Jesus was killed: the fourteen episodes of the Passion have a horizontal composition setting and follow a vertical path along the upper and lower arms (with the only exception of the twelfth and thirteenth stations which are instead side by side from right to left in the lower arm) while it becomes horizontal along the left and right arms, so that the upper arm and the two lateral contain two episodes for each, six scenes are contained in the lower arm (obviously the longest) and two others (the fourth and the seventh) are at the intersection.
